Why grams to cups depends on the ingredient
Grams measure weight and cups measure volume. A cup of honey is heavy because honey is dense, while a cup of cocoa powder is light and airy. So there is no single "grams per cup" number: you need to know what you are measuring. This converter uses typical weights per US cup for each ingredient.

How to measure flour correctly
- Fluff the flour in its bag or container with a spoon.
- Spoon it into the measuring cup without pressing down.
- Level the top with the back of a knife.
Scooping the cup straight into the bag can add 20% or more flour, which makes cakes dry and cookies tough.
Handy kitchen equivalents
- 1 cup = 16 tablespoons = 48 teaspoons
- 1 tablespoon = 3 teaspoons ≈ 14.8 ml
- 1 stick of butter = 1/2 cup = 113 g
