Which games use which dice?
Most board games like Monopoly, Yahtzee and Catan use six-sided dice (d6). Tabletop role-playing games like Dungeons & Dragons use a full set: d4, d6, d8, d10, d12 and d20, with the d20 deciding most attacks and skill checks. A d100 (or two d10s) is used for percentages.

Frequently asked questions
Are the dice rolls really random?
Yes. Each die uses your browser's cryptographic random number generator (the same one used for passwords), so every face has an equal chance and past rolls never affect the next one.
What does 2d6+3 mean?
It is standard dice notation. The number before "d" is how many dice to roll and the number after is how many sides each die has. So 2d6+3 means roll two six-sided dice, add them up and add 3. You can combine groups, like 1d20+1d4+2.
Which dice does it support?
Any common die: d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20 and d100, plus any custom number of sides from 2 to 1000. You can roll up to 100 dice at once.
What are advantage and disadvantage?
In Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition, advantage means you roll two d20s and keep the higher one, and disadvantage means you keep the lower one. Use the Advantage and Disadvantage buttons to roll that way.
What is the average roll of a die?
For a fair die with n sides, the average is (n + 1) ÷ 2. A d6 averages 3.5, a d20 averages 10.5. The tool shows the average of your current roll so you can compare.
