A notepad that is always ready

Open this page and start typing: there is nothing to install and no account to create. It is perfect for quick notes during a call, a shopping list, drafting an email before you send it, or pasting text to clean it up.

Features

  • Autosave: every change is saved in your browser a moment after you stop typing.
  • Multiple notes: each note is named by its first line.
  • Word and character count: shown below the note as you type.
  • Open and download: bring in plain text files and save notes as .txt.
  • Plain text: paste text here to strip formatting before pasting it elsewhere.

Where your notes are stored

Notes are kept in your browser's local storage on this device only. They stay private to this browser, but they are not backed up. If you need notes on several devices or a permanent backup, download them or use a cloud notes app.

Need a full count of words, sentences and reading time? Paste your note into the word counter. Want to sketch instead of type? Try the online whiteboard.

Frequently asked questions

Are my notes saved?

Yes, automatically, as you type. Notes are saved in your browser on this device, so they are still here when you come back. They are not uploaded to any server, which also means they will not appear on your other devices.

Can I lose my notes?

Notes can be lost if you clear your browser data, use private or incognito mode, or switch browsers or devices. Use "Download .txt" to keep a copy of anything important.

Can I keep more than one note?

Yes. Press "New note" to start another one. Your notes are listed by title (the first line of each note), and you can switch between them or delete the ones you no longer need.

Can I open a text file I already have?

Yes. Press "Open file" and choose a .txt, .md, .csv or similar plain text file. It opens as a new note. Word documents and PDFs are not plain text, so they will not open here.

Is it safe for private information?

Notes never leave your device, but anyone who uses this browser on this computer can open them. Avoid storing passwords here; a password manager is a much safer place for those.
