Frequently asked questions
What is a Discord timestamp?
It is a special code like <t:1767225600:F> that Discord turns into a date and time. Every reader sees it in their own time zone and language, so "8 PM" is never confusing for friends around the world.
How do I use the timestamp code?
Pick a date and time, choose a format, then copy the code and paste it into any Discord message, channel topic or event description. Discord shows the formatted date when the message is sent.
What do the format letters mean?
t is short time, T long time, d short date, D long date, f short date and time (the default), F full date with weekday, and R relative time like "in 3 hours" or "2 days ago".
Does the relative format update by itself?
Yes. A relative timestamp (R) counts up or down live in Discord, so "in 5 minutes" becomes "in 4 minutes" and later "3 minutes ago".
Which time zone does the generator use?
It uses the time zone of your device when you pick the date and time. The code itself stores a universal Unix timestamp, so it converts correctly for everyone.
