Plus a per-order fee of $0.40 ($0.30 if the total is $10 or less). The fee is calculated on the total sale amount, including shipping and sales tax.
Example
An item sells for $60 with $8 shipping and 7% sales tax: the total is $72.76. The final value fee is 13.6% of that, $9.90, plus $0.40, so eBay keeps $10.30. You receive $57.70 (eBay passes the sales tax on to the state).
How to keep more of each sale
- Price shipping accurately; undercharging comes straight out of your profit.
- Use a modest promoted listing rate only for items that need visibility.
- If you sell a lot, compare eBay Store subscriptions, which reduce fees in many categories.
